Life Through A Lens

I was 12 years old with an unquenchable thirst to see the world around me from a different view. My father, himself a keen photographer, decided to teach me about Aperture, Shutter Speed and Focal Plane. We used his Praktica MTL5 to learn on and that was it I was hooked.

For my next birthday dad got me a second-hand Zenit EM and some lenses and so began my life long love affair with Photography. I cost him a fortune in film processing but I developed an eye for Macro and fast action shots.

Subsequent birthdays saw darkroom equipment (I think to reduce the processing costs my Dad was picking up), lenses, filters and all manner of camera gear arrive as I expanded my subject pool.

Today some 40 years later I relish every opportunity to get out and take pictures of a wide range of subjects with my mighty Nikon P1000 superzoom.

Photography gets me out into the wide world and gives me a reason to go exploring where I might otherwise not.
